David O'Reilly wins Golden Bear in Berlin!

Darklight's 2008 Best Short Animation winner David O'Reilly for Please Say Something has won the Golden Bear at Berlin.

The jury fell in love with the film saying (it) “gave us lots of emotion, sensitivity and much to think about. A very humane story. With characters who made us laugh and feel sad at the same time.”

A big congratulations to David! Well done.

Join Darklight for a night to dismember as the cream of Ireland's filmmaking and music communities collude to bring you movies, music and (time permitting) mayhem. The centre piece of the proceedings? A LIVE REMIX of Darklight's acclaimed 4 Day Movie Project, as visual maestro Eoghan Kidney mashes up a series of superlative short films – all created for Darklight on June 26th, 2008 – by a legion of Irish filmmakers into an audio-visual spectacle par excellence, aided/abetted by live contributions from some of our favorite Irish tune-smiths. Musical selections on the night come from the legend that is Mister David Kitt, alongside choice electronica purveyors Sunken Foal and Somadrone; bringing matters to a fiery finish are superstar DJs Annie T and Una Rocks with some help from Darklight DJs.

Tickets are priced at a recession-friendly Twenty Euro, with all proceeds going to the 2009 Darklight Festival. Tickets are on sale now at www.darklight.ie and will also be available at the door on the evening. Saying that, we recommend buying your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

Darklight is Ireland's foremost celebration of art, film and technology. As a non-profit organization, our event depends on sponsorship - and the kindness of friends - for survival. The money raised on the night will go towards making Darklight's 10th anniversary one to remember. A good time is guaranteed.

Thanks for your time.
Sinead x
